Curtis Ray Simons, 91 of Streator passed away Sunday (October 12, 2025) at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
A visitation will be held Friday from 1 – 3P.M. at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Michael Pile, Brandon Grant, Jordan Bowman, Jacob Coates, Austin Crow and Espen Anderson.
Curtis was born on August 26, 1934, in Beebe, Arkansas to Lenial Edward and Mary Ila (Chapman) Simons. He married Sharon Handzo on July 16, 1976. She preceded him in death on July 26, 2012.
Surviving are children, Linda (Timothy Fitzsimmons, Gary Simons, Nancy (Dave) Wilkey, Cheryl (Steve) LeGrand, Todd (Pamela) Coates, Toby (Amy) Coates, Stacy (Matt) Anderson and Scott (Anna) Simons, 22 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, sister-in-law JoBeth Simons.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Sharon, grandson James Southey, brothers James and Jerry Simons and his sister-in-law Georgene Kirschbaum.
Curtis attended Streator schools and Streator High School. He worked and retired from Streator Brick. He loved sitting in his backyard enjoying nature with his best friend, Sammy
Sue (his little dog) sippin a cold one.
He was an avid Cardinal fan and was able to celebrate his 90th birthday at a game in St. Louis with all 8 of his children.
He played on various bowling leagues with many of his brick yard buddies and was a member of the Streator Eagles Club.
