Charles R. Hart, Jr. 85 of Streator passed away Thursday morning (March 12th) at The Good Samaritan Home in Flanagan.
A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9-11AM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday at 11AM at the funeral home.
His ashes will be laid to rest in The Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood at a later date.
Charles was born June 29, 1929 in Streator, Illinois to Charles Hart Sr. and Ruth (Slager) Hart.
He married Eltie Janet Overmier on November 10, 1957. She passed away March 29, 2014.
Also surviving are children, Susan (Christopher) Pavlick of Streator, Michael (Theresa) Hart of Tonica, Kathleen (William) Hedgspeth of Port Barrington, IL, and Ruth Hart of Ottawa, 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Rodrick, Jade, Chance, and Nicholas Darling, and 1 great-granddaughter, Sofia Rodrick.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Janet Hart, grandson, Justin McMillin, brothers, Daniel Hart, Sr. and David Hart and sister, Phyllis Healy and sister in infancy, Marcella Hart.
Charles attended Streator grade and High School. He retired from Thatcher Glass and Anchor Glass.
He served in the Army during the Korean War and helped worked on the Korean Veteran Memorial in Streator.
He enjoyed gardening, reading, woodworking and fishing. He most enjoyed his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
