Cecil G. Missel, 88 of Streator passed away Sunday morning (Aug. 28th) at his home.
A visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 - 8PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11AM at the Central Church of Christ. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park following cremation rites.
Cecil was born on August 12, 1923 in Streator to Ervin and Minta (Tucker) Missel. He married Virginia Lee on March 14, 1945 she survives.
Also surviving are children, Dean (Kathy) Missel of Streator, Patricia Bales of Rockford, Nancy (Ed) Geiger of Streator, Vernon Missel of S. Elgin, Gregory Missel of Streator, Karen (Jorge) Bonilla of Elgin, 18 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, sister Joan Niles of Bloomington, brothers, Eugene, Raymond, Allen (Betty), Paul (Rose), Lee (Marge), Ron (Sara) Missel all of Streator, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Kenneth Dale Missel, daughter, Cathrine West, grandson, Jeffery Bales, brothers, Leonard and Edward "Jr" Missel, sisters, Genelda Bundy-Braunton and Lillian Hogan.
Cecil attended Streator Grade Schools and Streator High School, veteran of WWII serving in the US Army and retired from Owen's Illinois Glass in 1984. He is also a member of the Central Church of Christ, Streator American Legion and Streator Moose Lodge.
Memorials may be directed to Central Church of Christ.
