Carol Kaminke, Ancona, IL, 93, died peacefully at the Evenglow Lodge in Pontiac, on Sunday, March 22, 2026. She had struggled many years with dementia.
Private family services will be held at the Winterrowd Funeral Home with burial in the Long Point Cemetery at a later date.
Carol was born September 23, 1932 in Streator to Frank and Bernice (Bennington) Kimpling. She married Robert (Bud) Kaminke on August 19, 1956, who passed away in 2022. Surviving is daughter Susan (Dr. Arthur) Stern of Indianapolis, son Thomas (Julie) Kaminke of Long Point, grandchildren, Jennifer Stern, Jeffery (Audra) Stern, James Stern, Carly (Nick) Hunt, Connor (Allie) Kaminke, 2 great grandchildren, brother Sam (Sandi) Kimpling of Long Point, sister Margaret Murray of Streator, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters and sister-in-law Janet Metz.
Carol graduated from Long Point High School in 1951 and worked briefly in Dayton, Ohio, with her sister Nancy, before returning home. She spent many years as not only a farm wife, but a farm hand, too. She was a loving, caring and pleasant person, that always had a smile for everyone. She loved gardening, mowing, picking up sticks, and was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed bowling, golfing and was an avid Cub fan. Carol was a devout Christian and she shared her incredible talent by playing the organ at the Long Point Christian Church for over 60 years. She was also a member of the Long Point Home Extension and American Legion Auxiliary.
Memorials may be made to the Long Point American Legion Auxiliary or the Alzheimer’s Association.
