Buckley “Buck” G. Vickers, 93 of Streator passed away Sunday morning (August 16, 2026) at his home.
A visitation will be held Thursday from 4 – 7PM with the rosary recited at 7PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11AM at St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Buck was born on December 20, 1932, in Ottawa to Buckley and Verna (Mushinsky) Vickers Sr. He married Elsie Handley on October 27, 1952. She preceded him in death on March 15, 1993.
Surviving are his children, Debra (Dale) Adams of Dwight, Gary (Vicki) Vickers of Streator, Steven (Susan) Vickers of Grand Ridge, Karen (Ron) Merritt of Bloomington and Kevin (Kelly) Vickers of Streator, daughter in law Jennifer Vickers of Streator, grandchildren, Dawn Adams, Drew (Adam) Kays, Dana (Nic) Lawson, Luke (Tammy) Vickers, Amber (Ed) Boik, Molly (Erik) Gallick, Mike (Leigh Ann) Vickers, Stephanie (Efren) Orozco, Jake (Lindsay) Vickers, Maddie Merritt, Hunter Merritt, Jonathan Vickers, Haley Robles, Max Vickers, McKinley, Mitchell and Marisa Vickers, 23 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Elsie, son Rodney and son Mark in infancy, great grandson Cruz, brothers Richard and Joseph, sister Kathleen Novlan.
Buck attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in 1951. He served in the US Air Force and retired from GE Plastics in 1993. Buck was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator Knights of Columbus and the Streator Men’s Bowling and was inducted in the Hall of Fame. He was a volunteer at the Streator Food Pantry.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, American Cancer Society or the St. Michael Church Building Fund.
