Barbara Ann Dennis Oakes, 62 of Manville passed away Saturday afternoon (March 7th) at her home.
A visitation will be held Thursday from 9 – 12Noon at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday at Noon at the funeral home with cremation rites following services. Burial will be in the Phillips Cemetery.
Barbara was born on March 14, 1952 in Streator to Matthew and Evelyn (Wiseman) Dennis Sr.
She married Richard Simmons on March 17, 1972 they later divorced.
Surviving are children Cynthia (David) Lopez of Streator, Amy (Jason) Dodge of Cornell, Emily Garcia of Manville and Richard “DJ†Simmons Jr. of Manville, 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, twin sister Beverly Collins of Streator, brothers Dan (Harriett) Dennis of Rutland, Jerry (Marsha) Dennis of Streator and Matthew Dennis Jr. of Rutland, sisters-in-law Joy Dennis of Streator and Donna Dennis of Streator and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, former husband and brothers James and Carl.
Barbara graduated from Woodland High School in 1971, she was formerly employed at Donnelly’s in Dwight until her illness and was a member of the Central Church of Christ and Streator VFW Auxiliary.
Memorials may be made to the family of Barbara Oakes.
