Barbara Ann Lathrop

Barbara A. Lathrop, 81 of Streator passed away Wednesday morning (May 29, 2019) at her home.

There will be no visitation. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 11AM at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Streator.

Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery.

Winterrowd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 

Barbara was born on May 18, 1938 in Chicago Heights, IL to Joseph and Rose (Corradetti) Sylvester.   She married Roy Lathrop on July 9, 1960.  He passed away on March 4, 2008.

Surviving are children, Michael (Michel) of Boulder Junction, Wis., Patricia (Randy Doty)  of Wadsworth, IL , Richard (Jill)  of East Peoria and Timothy (Christine)  of Denver, CO., 5 grandchildren, Rae Anne (David) Pavlick, Katelyn, Samuel, Nathaniel and Jonah and brother, Richard (Charlotte) Sylvester of Woodstock, IL

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Roy.

 Barbara was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church where she was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.  She graduated from St. Joseph Grade School, Bloom Township High School in 1955, attended Western Illinois University for 3 years and received a Bachelors of Health Arts degree from the University of St. Francis.  She also received training as a medical technologist from St. Francis Hospital in Peoria. 

Barbara retired from St. Mary’s Hospital in 2003 where she was a medical technologist for 37 years.  She was also a volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital.   She also was a volunteer at the Guardian Outreach Center, Meals on Wheels, and was a member of the Streator Knights of Columbus and Eagles Auxiliary. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Michael the Archangel School, St. Michael the Archangel Church or The Woodland Education Foundation.
