Andrew John Matas Sr.

Andrew John Matas Sr., 65 of Streator passed away Wednesday (September 23, 2026) at his home.

A visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 – 7 PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7PM at the funeral home.

Andy was born on August 30, 1961, in Streator to Andrew Thomas and Elizabeth (Hastings) Matas. He married Lisa Behrens on April 19, 1985. She survives.

Also surviving is son, Andrew “A.J” (Emily) Matas of Granville, daughter Nikki (Nick Lautwein) Matas of Streator, grandsons, Hunter Webster, Archer Matas and Brendon Lautwein, sisters, Patricia (Kevin) Clayton Sr., Andrea Matas, brother Greg Matas all of Streator, father-in-law, Fred Behrens of Streator and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law Sandy Seaman.

Andy attended St. Stephens Grade School, Streator Grade Schools and graduated from Streator High School in 1979. He was employed at Hart Electric in Lostant and was formerly employed at McDonald in Streator for over 30 yrs in maintenance.

Andy enjoyed Ham Radios, Nascars, raising pigeons and spending time with family and friends.
