Allen E. Missel

February 19, 1931 — April 14, 2014

Allen E. Missel Sr., 83 of Streator passed away Monday (April 14, 2014) at Heritage Health in Streator.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday from 11AM-1PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be held on Friday at 1PM at the funeral home.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Allen was born February 19, 1931 in Streator, Illinois to Irvin and Minta (Tucker) Missel.
He married Elizabeth Mahnke on April 8, 1951.  She survives.
Also surviving are children, Allen E. (Lori) Missel, Jr. of Streator, Lynn (Lloyd) Hillyer of Streator, Kelvin Missel of Streator, and Kerry (Kathy) MIssel of Lawrenceville, GA,   8 grandchildren, Tony and Mark Hillyer, William (Mandi) Missel, Malinda Missel, Brandi (Cody) Harms, Brent (Dani Soltis) Missel, Dylan Missel and Jordyn Missel, 5 great-grandchildren, Robert (Samantha) Hillyer, Darius, Alayna and Destiny Missel and Parker Harms, great-great granddaughter, Aubreyana Hillyer, sister, Joanne Niles of Minonk, brothers, Paul (Rose) Missel of Streator, and Ron (Sarah) Missel of Streator,  numerous nieces and nephews and his dog, Buddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Erich MIssel, brothers, Leonard, Eugene, Edward, Lee, Raymond, and Cecil and sisters, Genelda Bundy and Lillian Hogan.
Allen attended Streator High School and was a member of Central Church of Christ where he served as past Deacon.  He worked at Ace Hardware, Sauder Implement and Streator Implement.  Allen was an avid camper, boater and outdoorsman.
Allen’s primary focus in life was his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Central Church of Christ or to The American Cancer Society.
