Robert Byrne

Robert A. Byrne, 68 of Streator passed away Wednesday morning (September 15, 2021) at his home.

Following cremation, a private family service will be held at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.

Bob was born on November 26, 1952 in Ottawa to Arthur and Anna (Malone) Byrne.  He married Mary Austino on November 3, 1978.  She preceded him in death on January 31, 2010.

Surviving is daughter, Melissa Byrne of Streator, son, Robert E. (Heather) Byrne of Streator, grandchildren, Taliss, Tamyra, Na’vaeh, Andrea and Austin, great-granddaughter, Ta’naija, sisters, Rosemary Gorgol of Florida, Karen Wooddell of Wisconsin, Elaine Webber of Ottawa and Lorrie McCaskey of Florida.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary and a sister Susan Chrisensen.

Bob attended Seneca grade school and Seneca High School.  He served in the United States Navy from January of 1970 until August of 1973.  He retired as a truck driver for Tailwind out of Cornell.  Bob was a former member of the Streator American Legion.

Bob loved being with his family, driving the countryside. He was a avid animal lover and enjoyed watching tv and reading.
