Vera V. Rowe, 96 of Grand Ridge passed away Tuesday evening (August 21st) at the Ottawa Pavilion.
A visitation will be held Sunday from 5 – 7 PM at the Grand Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 AM at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Grand Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim, Brian and Ron Skolek, Tom, Andrew and Spencer Rowe and Jordan Saleda.
Vera was born on July 31, 1922 in Farm Ridge Township to Clement and Effie (Mitchell) Black.
She married Carl L. Rowe on January 31, 1940. He passed away August 2, 2006.
Surviving are 5 children, Donna (Jim) Skolek of Ottawa, Jerry (Judy) Rowe of Grand Ridge, Marlene Perona of Streator, Julie (Jeff) Saleda of Ottawa and John (Tina) Rowe of Ottawa, 15 grandchildren, Jim (JoEllen) Skolek and Ron Skolek and Brian (Debbi) Skolek, Kimberly (Josh) Krammerer, Tom Rowe, Amy (Jim) Sabalaskey, Lori (Dave) Cottingham, JoAnn (Brett) Wyatt, Joslyn, Jordan and Jenni Saleda, Andrew (Megan) Rowe, Nichole (Gannon) Neurohr and Spencer and Jonni Rowe, 9 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, brother, Robert (Delores) Black of Streator, sister-in-law, Rose Black of CA and her beloved puppy, Charlee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 grandchildren, Todd Skolek, David Rowe and April Perona, 3 brothers, Roger, Glenn and Richard Black, sisters, Marie Lehr, Dorothy Connolly, Irene Arkels, Mabel Cole, Maxine Bennett and Catherine Poundstone.
Vera attended Grand Ridge Grade School and Ottawa High School. She retired from Owens Illinois Glass and was a member of the Grand Ridge United Methodist Church, Grand Ridge Home Extension, Ever- Ready Women’s and belonged to many card clubs.
