Lee E. Garrett, 83 of Streator passed away Tuesday evening (April 9, 2019) at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
Visitation will be held Monday from 9:30 – 11 AM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 AM at the funeral home with the Rev. Tony Ross officiating. Burial will be in the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.
Lee was born on April 12, 1935 in Manville to Leo and Hattie (Long) Garrett. He married Juanita Kennedy on July 6, 1957. She survives.
Also surviving are daughters Brenda Garrett of Rockford, Sherry (Edward) Meine of Earlville and Cindy (John) Cannon of Decatur, grandchildren, Anna Whitehouse, Emily Meine, Isabelle, Kennedy and Jacob Cannon, great-grandchildren Gideon Alexander and Madelyn Whitehouse, brother Tom Garrett of Streator and sister Geraldine Davis of Streator.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandson Austin Alexander, sisters Helen Brown and Wanda Beltrami.
Lee attended Streator High School. He served in the US Army, retired from Owens Illinois Glass after 42 ½ yrs in 1994. Lee was a member of the Streator American Legion, Streator Am Vets and the Starved Rock Model A Ford Club. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting and going to the casinos.
