John “Jack” M. Von Ruden, 59 of Streator passed away Saturday afternoon (December 28, 2019) at his home.
Per his request a celebration of Life for family will be held at a later date. The Winterrowd Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Jack was born on August 1, 1960 in Streator to John M. and Penny (Richards) Von Ruden Sr. He married Theresa Benstine on July 1, 1983. She survives.
Also surviving are daughters Tanya (Jim) Dennis of Streator, Tara (Bob) Gray of Streator and Tasha (Brian) Pullara of Evansville, IN, grandchildren Nicole, Heaven, Star, Brian Jr., Hayden and R.J., great-grandchildren Jahlan and Jaleigha, his mother Penny Best of Princeton, brother Billy Darm of Princeton, sister Lisa Novak of Streator, aunts Darlene Buchanan and Carol Jo Richards both of Streator, uncle Larry (Pat) Richards of Streator and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
He is preceded in death by his father and step-mother Verna Von Ruden, step-father Jack Best, sister, Alice Decker, nephew B.J. Hendon, cousin Jerry Richards, aunt Mary Ann Richards and his grandparents, Irl and Agnes Richards and John A. and Elsie Von Ruden.
Jack attended Streator Grade Schools and Streator High School and Woodland School. He was baptized catholic. He was Past Exalted Ruler of the Streator Elks Lodge and the Princeton Elks Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, camping, supporting the Screaming Eagles and was a fan of the Green Bay Packers, but mostly he loved spending time with family and friends.
