Halga Joan Holt, 86 of Streator passed away Friday (September 14th) at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Ottawa.
A visitation will be held Saturday from 10 – 12noon at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday at noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in Phillips Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be family members.
Joan was born on August 12, 1932 in Macon, Missouri to Joseph Hyrum and Halga Reba (Gray) Charles. She married Ralph T. Holt on January 20, 1951. He preceded her in death on May 28, 2005.
Surviving are daughters Mildred Overocker of Streator and Debra (Thomas) Burns of Streator, son R. Dwain (Sherry) Holt of Streator, 6 grandchildren Malika (Walter) Orndorff, Aicha (Tony) Hauppa, Saadia (Tim) Walton, Alan Dwain Holt, Thomas Andrew Holt and Kaaren (Charles) Schoof and 14 great-grandchildren,her companion dog, Ruby, several nieces and nephews and her favorite cousin Thelma Dawson, of Macon, MO.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Howard, Lester and Lorenzo Charles, sisters Cledis Parson, Reba Teiman and Martha Sneed.
Joan graduated from the Macon High School in Macon Missouri. She retired from St. Mary’s Hospital and after retirement she worked at the former Town and Country Motel as desk clerk. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Marseilles.
